I'm a 21 year old Melbournian, I work in a boutique brewery that's open to the public with the idea of choosing one of our numerous beers and brewing it yourself, Right down to the bottling. After a number of months of slowly learning the different characteristics of beers and their distinctive differences, I've decided to start at number 1 and work my way through the 'local tap-house's 100 hottest craft beers of 2010' with the hope that by the end of it I'll be able to tell the difference between an Indian pale ale and a Pilsner with 25grams of extra Saaz hops.

NUMBER 7
WHITE RABBIT DARK ALE

The First Dark ale I'm reviewing. Straight away I'm excited. Even before you have opened the bottle the label is fantastic.picturing a fairy tale like scene, Inviting you, tempting you down the dark path through the forest. Have a closer look
I poured it into the glass, and left it for a tiny while to write the above and in that short space of time, i could have sworn that the already magnificently dark coulour of this ale got darker, stormier even. now before i go any further i must prefice this by saying im used to lagers and pale ales etc so go easy.

The magicians at Little Creatures have ventured out to healsville to create this brew and have opted for a more botique, rustic and bespoke way of brewing this little treasure. Open fermenting, no preservatives or artificial flavours and whole hops. back to the more basic brewing techniques.Got to love that.

The scent of this beer is of dark malts and roasted grain. not as aromatic as your run of the mill ales but still fresh. The head is fantastic, white, crisp and not too lacey.

Then on to the taste...Strong, rich and flavoursome. alot of the qualities that remind me of red wine. i could sit inside with the heater going on a chilly night and have a few too many of these and feel warm, content and satisfied. The flavour stays on the palete for quite a while, as you keep trying to analyse what it is that makes it just so delicious. as a  non dark ale fan before trying this, i can reccomend this brew to any beer drinker and be confident that they will be able to appreciate what a unique and tantalising beer this is.

I guess I'm a dark ale man now?
