I'm a 21 year old Melbournian, I work in a boutique brewery that's open to the public with the idea of choosing one of our numerous beers and brewing it yourself, Right down to the bottling. After a number of months of slowly learning the different characteristics of beers and their distinctive differences, I've decided to start at number 1 and work my way through the 'local tap-house's 100 hottest craft beers of 2010' with the hope that by the end of it I'll be able to tell the difference between an Indian pale ale and a Pilsner with 25grams of extra Saaz hops.

NUMBER 8
JAMES SQUIRE GOLDEN ALE
The head on this beer is incredible, thick, white and looks to be the perfect carbonation. The colour of this beer is a striking gold. sparkling in the light. A very appetising appearance.
The aroma of this beer sets your taste buds racing with citrusy, hints with a subtle hoppy scent.

On tasting straight away you can tell theres Ammarillo hops used and Not to bitter or dry but just the right amount. Pale malts im guessing and toasty falvoursome grains are used to enhance and fine tune this incredible brew.

The James Squire Golden Ale is one of my all time favourite beers, but i promise that doesnt bias the review. I used to drink this at a place called Chinotto's in Fed Square, Melbourne where they used to sell it for $3.50 a pint between 1 and 6pm. I say this because i feel with beers, the memories they create are just as important as the taste, or the colour. When you try a beer and can be transported back in time to a place, in my case a pint in the sun overlooking the beautiful city of melbourne from Fed Square. That i feel is priceless.
